About us

Ben Hedges (BA) Manager

I grew up in a farming family and had a passion for the outdoors and landscapes from an early age. This enabled me to develop many practical skills and gave me the opportunity to work in large historic gardens and on sports fields. I also ran a marquee hire business which I really enjoyed and gave me a great taste of project management. During that period I also maintained gardens in and around Oxford but this was overtaken by the marquee business at the time.

After graduating I took a different path and have spent many years sitting behind a lap top, although this wasn’t without merit I was never fulfilled. During lockdown in 2020 I began working for a local garden design company and quickly re-established my links with gardening and garden maintenance and the joy and creativity that can be found in them. I realised that this was the place I wanted to be. A career change aged 40 is incredibly exciting and I have the passion and enthusiasm for the job and my business that I’d love to be able to share with as many customers as possible. Despite having years of experience and working knowledge I wanted to expand on this and I am now enrolled on an RHS course and thoroughly enjoying it.

Other relevant qualifications include A levels in Biology and Environmental Science.
